Vice Chairman, Tom Lippert called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the Baroda Township Municipal Building Meeting Room. There were three audience members

 

There were no Building Inspector’s, or Zoning Administrator’s reports.

 

The minutes of the January 12, 2008 Planning Commission meeting were distributed and discussed.  Tom Shafer moved, seconded by David Schultz to approve the minutes as presented.  Vote - All Yes. Motion Carried. 

 

The order of the agenda was changed to accommodate a presentation by Dayna Kozminski concerning a proposed development of a recreational vehicle park on the Mead’s Meadows property on Shawnee Rd.

There were many questions and much discussion about the project.  A question arose concerning the 40’ length of a recreational vehicle being considered and falling under the regulation of manufactured homes.

The secretary is to research the origin of the term.

             

UNFINISHED BUSINESS – Wendie Shafer presented the “final” draft of the Citizen survey prepared by LSL. It was noted that if the Township decides to hire William and Works, the survey may be tweaked again.

 

A revised quote for Master Plan preparation services was reported by the Secretary.  She said she plans to recommend Williams and Works for the job.

 

The Planning Commissioners discussed the proposed changes to the Zoning Ordinance that had been made according to recommendations of LSL, Ben Schwartz and discussions during the January 12, 2009 Planning Commission meeting.  Questions concerning the regulation of Mobile Homes in the Ag zone were answered.  Tom Shafer moved,  seconded by David Schultz,  that the requirement for a special Use for Manufactured homes for farm labor be deleted from Section 9:03 and Section 13:21 Special Uses in the Ag zone, and listed as a permitted use under Section 9:02 N.   Voting Yes – Tom Shafer, David Schultz, Ed Heyn, and Wendie Shafer.  Voting No – Tom Lippert.

 

Wendie Shafer moved, seconded by Ed Heyn to recommend to the Baroda Township Board that the amendments to the Baroda Township Zoning Ordinance be adopted.  Vote – All Yes.  Motion Carried.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS – Wendie Shafer presented a request from Verizon Wireless for a release of the escrow funds on deposit for the construction of their Cell Tower.  After discussion, Wendie Shafer Moved, Seconded by Ed Heyn to release the Verizon Wireless funds in escrow to Verizon Wireless.  Vote – All Yes.  M.C.

 

Discussion was held regarding anemometer towers to study wind speeds in the township.  Wendie said she would find out how other municipalities handle this issue, and will call the State to get a recommendation.
