David Schultz, acting chairman called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. in the Baroda Township Municipal Building Meeting Room. There was one audience member.

The minutes of the January 11, 2010 Planning Commission meetings were distributed and discussed.  It was suggested that the minutes be corrected by adding that the Maki’s small winery be denoted as for manufacturing only. Tom Lippert moved to approve the minutes of the January 11, 2010 meeting as corrected, seconded by Tom Shafer. Vote - All Yes. M.C.

There was no Building Inspector’s report.  Jim Pheifer reported that he had approved one Zoning Permit for Tom Lippert to build a 60’ X 60’ pole barn for riding horses.

OLD BUSINESS – W. Shafer mentioned that a public hearing will need to be set at the March meeting for April for the adoption of the new master plan.

The Planning Commission discussed the issue of the minimum lot size in the Agricultural zone.  The commissioners came to a consensus of amending the zoning ordinance to reduce the minimum lot size in the Agricultural zone to two (2) acres.  The commissioners do not wish to regulate animals in Ag. as is the present case.  The Commissioners agreed that the subject should be discussed by the Township Board members at their next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS – W. Shafer informed the Planning Commissioners that the Chair person, Madeleine Carroll has changed her residence to Florida, hence is no longer qualified to serve on the Baroda Township Planning Commission. Dave Schultz requested that Wendie call Madeleine to determine her status. W. Shafer asked if anyone had any recommendations for people to serve in Madeleine’s place.  Dean Schmaltz said he would like to withdraw the name that he had previously submitted and recommend the Township Board consider speaking with Tim Brazinsky, son of Pastor Brazinsky, who has a degree in planning.

Tom Lippert agreed to extend his membership on the Planning Commission.

ADJOURNMENT – The meeting was adjourned by David Schultz at 6:55 p.m.  The next regular meeting of the Planning Commission is to be held on March 8, 2010.
