OLD BUSINESS – Dave Schultz asked if any complaints had come into the Township about the Mark Schutze Snowmobile race over the weekend.  Wendie Shafer Reported that  one neighbor had come in the week prior to complain, but that no other complaints had come in since the race.

NEW BUSINESS – A copy of a draft ordinance concerning small wind turbines was distributed by Wendie Shafer.  Dean Schmaltz mentioned that he had been visited by a wind energy company called Citizens Wind about the possibility of allowing his acreage to become part of a wind farm project.  Tom Shafer suggested that we procure the ordinances from the Indiana townships where the large wind farms are going in near Raub and Chatsworth.

David Schultz suggested we contact the person who visited Dean and ask the company to give a presentation in the near future to the Planning Commission about wind energy.  It was also suggested to contact other area wind energy companies to have them come and speak to us.

Ed Heyn described numerous styles of “house hold” sized  wind turbines he has researched and gave details about size, generation capacity and associated costs, as well as possible matching of funds from the State for this kind of project.  He also related what he had found out about the use and recommended height of wind testing towers
