The minutes of the Feb 8, 2010 Planning Commission meetings were distributed and discussed.  It was suggested that the minutes be corrected by adding that the Maki’s small winery be denoted as for manufacturing only. Tom Lippert moved to approve the minutes of the February 8, 2010 meeting as presented, seconded by Wendie Shafer. Vote - All Yes. M.C.

There was no Building Inspector’s report.  Jim Pheifer reported that he had

approved no Zoning Permits for the past month

OLD BUSINESS – W. Shafer mentioned that a public hearing needs to be adoption of the new master plan.  After discussion it was decided to wait until Tom Lippert determines whether he will be able to attend either in April or May.

The Planning Commission discussed the issue of the minimum lot size in the Agricultural zone.  Wendie Shafer reported that members of the Township Board were not interested in reducing the minimum lot size for the entire Agricultural zone to 2 acres.  It was recommended that Wendie ask Ben Schwartz for his interpretation of the Ordinance language.

Ed Heyn asked if Jim Brow had started on finding someone to take Madeleine Carroll’s place on the Planning Commission.  Wendie said she had given him the name of Tim Brazinsky.  Ed Heyn mentioned a person named John on Ruggles Road that may be interested in the position.

NEW BUSINESS – Tom Lippert asked if any Planning Commissioners had driven by Marquette Woods Rd and M-139 to see how berms were used to shield the construction along the road.  There was discussion about changing the set back requirements in the Park Ordinance Amendment.  It was suggested that Wendie contact Langworthy Strader, Leblanc to find out how large an area is

customarily needed for constructing a berm along a roadway.

ADJOURNMENT – The meeting was adjourned by David Schultz at 8:20 p.m.  The next regular meeting of the Planning Commission is to be held on April 12, 2010.
