Baroda Township Planning Commission Meeting

And Public Hearing

Chairman David Schultz called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. in the Baroda Township Municipal Building Meeting Room. There was no audience member.

 

The minutes of the last Planning Commission meeting were distributed and discussed.  Dean Schmaltz moved, seconded by Wendie Shafer to approve the minutes of the April 12, 2010 meeting as presented, Vote - All Yes. Motion Carried. 

 

There was no Building Inspector’s report.  There was no Zoning Administrator’s report.

 

Chairman David Schultz opened the Public hearing explaining that the purpose of the hearing was to hear public opinion on changing the Language in the Zoning Ordinance Section 9.04 for minimum lot size in the Agricultural Zone from 5 acres (except for residential use with no livestock or horses, 2 acres) to 2 acres, and leaving off the language that regulates animals.  Since there were no audience members, there was no public comment on changing the Agricultural Zone Lot size language.  David Schultz closed the public hearing.

 

David Schultz asked for a motion to vote on changing the Ordinance Language.  Wendie Shafer moved, seconded by Dean Schmaltz to recommend to the Baroda Township Board to change the minimum lot size in the Agricultural zone from 5 acres (except with no large animals or livestock, two acres) to Two (2) acres. (Deleting the language regulating animals)  By Roll Call Vote- Wendie Shafer yes, Ed Heyn no, Jason Steffes yes, Dean Schmaltz yes, Tom Shafer yes, David Schultz yes. Motion Carried.

 

OLD BUSINESS – Dean Schmaltz asked if Jim Brow had contacted Tim Brazinsky about the possibly becoming a member of the Planning Commission.  Wendie said that she had reminded Jim about it, but did not know whether or not he had contacted him.

 

NEW BUSINESS – Dean Schmaltz welcomed new Planning Commission member, Jason Steffes to the group.  A brief discussion was held about addressing wind turbine towers at future Planning Commission meetings.

 

ADJOURNMENT – The meeting was adjourned by Chairman, David Schultz at 7:15 p.m.  The next regular meeting of the Planning Commission is to be held on June 14, 2010 and is to be accompanied by a Public hearing for adopting the revised Baroda Township Master Plan.
