Vice Chairman Carroll called the meeting of the Planning Commission (“the Commission”) to order at 6:35 p.m.  The minutes of the April 9, 2007 Planning Commission, following a motion by Commissioner Schmaltz to approve and supported by Commissioner W. Shafer, were approved as presented.

BUILDING INSPECTOR’S REPORT –

2007-07     Doug Hoerr, 263 Browntown, Shed, &18,000

2007-08     Gerald Wojahn/Rich Heckathorne, 1750 Shawnee Rd, 2 storage buildings, $150,000

2007-09     Neal Nitz, 7939 Stevensville/Baroda Rd, Pole Barn, $18,000

In response to a question that had been raised at the April meeting re: building and zoning permits having been issued for a pole barn at a certain location, Mr. H. Gaul informed the Commission the applicant did in fact have sufficient land for the size pole barn being constructed.

ZONING ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT –  NONE

The Commission discussed at some length the status of certain zoning enforcement matters of which it had or will be dealing.  The Commission was concerned as to whether adequate attention was being paid to all phases of the enforcement process and wished to make known to the Township Board its perceptions and concerns.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

SHORT TERM RENTAL/TOURIST HOME REGULATIONS AND PROCESSES

There was to have been a Public Hearing prior to tonight’s Commission meeting where amendments to the Zoning Ordinance pertaining to Short term Rentals and Bed and Breakfast operations were to have been discussed.  However, a publishing error on the part of the local newspaper resulted in the Legal Notice announcing the Public Hearing to run at a later date than required by law.  The Public Hearing will be held prior to the June 11, 2007 meeting of the Commission.

NEW BUSINESS – NONE

PUBLIC COMMENT – NONE

Commissioner Lippert noted he had seen an off-site advertising sign on the Stevensville/Baroda Rd, just prior to Linco (if heading North), for a “Custom” Taxidermy Service, and wondered if the necessary paperwork (if required) had been addressed.  No one present was able to answer him.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.  The next meeting of the Planning Commission will be June 11, 2007, at 6:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

John A. Newcomer, secretary

Baroda Township Planning Commission
